Ex lner thompson 'b1' class 4 6 0 no. 61037 'jairou'. built at darlington in november 1947 as lner no. 1037 and withdrawn in may 1964. i suspect very few of these participants at byers green in co. durham on this september 1963 joint rcts sls 'north eastern tour' knew what a 'jairou' is or was! 61037 had headed the bishop auckland to stanhope leg of the tour, but seems to have halted amongst.
