Eevee Development Updates Eevee Next Page 4 Blender Development It seems fairly straight forward, changing ui, hide eevee next render option, switch back to eevee legacy when eevee next isn’t available. one key point is that the devs. now have a policy to revert a commit if it breaks everything like what we saw in the last month (because of the way it blocks development in other areas for starters). Perhaps it is time to call it and work towards eevee 1.5 for blender 4.1 instead of full eevee next. or, have no significant eevee update for 4.1, and bring next with 4.2, 4.3, or whatever build range it’s ready for. i, at least, have no information on why the 4.1 build of next hasn’t worked in the past several days so while such info.

Eevee Development Updates Eevee Next 4 By Joseph Blender After the metal backend was officially turned on (maybe 4 6 months ago) there was a noticeable difference in viewport performance compared to when it was opengl. eevee performance seemed to double on my super lowed end as mac. next stop for us mac user is hardware rt and it looks like that is happening with the m3 machines. After over 2 years of development, the eevee next project has produced a major evolution of the blender viewport system, set to be a key feature of the upcoming 4.2 lts release. project goals. the eevee next project was aimed at modernizing viewport rendering, address technical debt and overcome existing design limitation. We have now extended the range to [1, 9] in blender v4.2. they are not expected to match. basically, in the compositor, the biggest possible size is 9 and you go down from there by halving the effective bloom size, in eevee, the lowest possible size is 1 and you go up from there by doubling the effective bloom size. the maximum possible size for eevee is dependent on the image resolution, and. Update: minor note. also if i load the scene in 4.0, clear the rotation of all the important lights in the scene, then save and load the scene in 4.2, the shadows look more or less correct. still not quite as attractive as the shadows in eevee legacy, but i can at least feel like with tweaking i’ll end up with a reasonable result. Despite having some very large files with 600 shaders in them, that only takes a few seconds, and is very reasonable. this "compiling eevee engine shaders" step happens before compiling the individual texture shaders that the scene uses. it happens on any file, even the default cube, though the delay is much more noticeable on very large files.
